BlackCat allegedly removed NextGen&#8217;s breach information from its leak portal, implying NextGen may have paid a ransom to BlackCat (Dissent, 2023). NextGen then suffers a new breach in March 2023, now potentially involving 1,049,375 patients and the following sensitive data: &#8220;name, date of birth, address, and social security number&#8221; (Rollins, 2023; NextGen Healthcare, 2023, p. 1). NextGen stressed health information was not involved in their breach notice (NextGen Healthcare, 2023, p. 1).
